TCC Spring 2010 Champions – Rockers

Rockers Cricket Club (RCC) won the TCC Spring 2010 Taped Ball Cricket Tournament. They beat Rattlers by 18 runs in a exciting match . RCC batted first and scored 144 in 20 overs. They got off to a good start with Santanu hammering a blistering 30 in 22 balls at the start of the innings . In the middle of the innnings RCC lost quick wickets and were 61/5 at the end of 10 overs. Then Keyur(37 runs) and Ranjit(24 runs) not only held the innngs together, but also added quick 60 runs in only 42 balls.Rattlers started briskly with Satish and Vinod and scored 32 runs in 4 overs, before Satish got out to Johnson. Mahesh and Vinod steadied the innings, but Ranjit broke the partnership and Rattlers slowed down considerably in the middle overs, requiring 48 runs in the last 4 overs. Even after some lusty hitting at the end they fell short by 18 runs at the end of 20 over. In the end it was a very exciting and tense match played with high quality cricket. Another highlight of the match, was the high quality umpiring by Nattu and Prabhakar.

The game was followed by a well organized prize distribution cermony and lunch arranged by TCC president Surya Saladi. The chief guest of the event was Mr. Nadir Shah , a veteran cricketer and HCL administrator who has worked tirelessly to promote cricket in Houston. He was honoured with a plaque by Nanda Kumar of TCC.

Trilok, the captain of RCC was handed over the winners trophy and Senthil the captain of Rattlers was handed over the runners up trophy. The players of the winners and runners up received individual trophies. Man of the match for the finals was Ranjit from RCC.

Mohan Palla from Chargers won the Best batsman trophy for his 146 runs. Johnson Smith of RCC won the best bowler for his 19 wickets. Yogesh Patil of Chargers with 14 catches won the best wicketkeeer trophy. Mohan palla of Chargers won the best Fielder trophy for his 7 dismissals. Trophies were also given to the man of the match for Semi Finals, Ramesh Marri from RCC and Senthil Arcot from RCC.
