TCC Vs SCC | Dec-2-2007 | Winter League 2007
Matzke Park, Dec 02: TCC won the toss and elected to bat against SCC. TCC opened with Jeeva and Anand. The openers played well and scored at around 6 runs per over. Anand playing after 2 years, started to open up and the boundaries started to flow at will from his bat. Jeeva provided good support at the other end. In the 9th over, when the score was around 85, Anand unfortunately pulled his shoulder muscle when trying to dive in to not get run out. He had to retire hurt. Anand had compiled a wonderful half century (52 runs of 32 balls). Spinners started to bowl at both ends.
Krishna perished while trying to up the run rate. Soon after Jeeva also got out holding out in the deep in the same over. Jeeva made 27 runs of 23 balls. At the end of 10 overs, TCC were 87 for 2. Utpal and JP both got out holding out in deep wicket. Prasad went in and immediately put pressure on the spinners by hitting a six. After a couple of balls in the next Prasad celebrated TCC’s 100 with 3 consecutive sixes. Prasad then perished next ball stumped trying to hit a fourth six. Prasad made 28 runs in 10 balls with 4 sixes. Sunil and Shailesh then rotated strike well to keep the scoreboard ticking and batted carefully not to lose any more wickets. Sunil after hitting a good six got out trying to up the run rate. Rupen Patel also got out soon after trying to up the run rate. An easy score of 160 plus seemed hard now with quick loss of wickets. But TCC captain Nanda, who went in had other plans. He started hitting balls all around the park at will. After a flurry of boundaries, TCC finished with 173 runs at the end of 20 overs losing 7 wickets. Nanda remained unbeated with 21 runs from 8 balls.
Chasing 173 in 20 overs was always going to be a difficult. JP and Ketan opened the attack for TCC. After a couple of overs, both JP and Ketan settled down and started to bowl well. Jp got 2 quick wickets, both bowled with incutters. Ketan was unlucky as the chances fell in safe place. Prasad and Rupen Patel continued the bowling and kept the progress in check. After a run out by Ketan and a couple of wickets for Prasad, SCC were under pressure to score runs fast. Even with TCC bowling a lot of wides, 77 runs were needed in 7 overs. The spin of Sunil and Jeeva dried up the runs and SCC were never really in the chase. Sunil bowled well to get 2 wickets. At the end TCC won by 24 runs. In the end it was a good win, but the bowling needs to be more disciplined and control the extras.
TCC’s next game will be against HRCC-R at Matzke PArk coming Sunday(Dec 9) at Matzke Park.
